Dr Sameer Jauhar is a Clinical Academic Psychiatrist

Biography
Dr. Jauhar is a distinguished medical professional with a multifaceted background. Graduating in Medicine from Glasgow University in 2002, he also holds a degree in Public Health and Epidemiology. Since 2012, Dr. Jauhar has been a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Early Intervention in Psychosis, at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
In 2012, Dr. Jauhar transitioned to the Institute of Psychiatry, where he collaborated closely with other leading experts . In March 2025 he moved to Imperial College London, where he is a Clinical Associate Professor in Affective Disorders and Psychosis. His primary research focus centered on PET studies of the dopamine system, particularly in relation to psychosis and treatment response. Dr. Jauhar’s research interests are deeply rooted in understanding the neurobiological underpinnings of psychotic disorders, with a special emphasis on affective psychoses, as well as advancing treatment approaches for both psychotic and affective illnesses. His contributions have been recognised through a multitude of prestigious awards and grants from esteemed organisations such as the European Psychiatric Association, European Congress of Neuropsychopharmacology, British Association for Psychopharmacology, and Schizophrenia International Research Society.
Notably, he received the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh JMS Sim Fellowship in 2018, enabling him to further advance his groundbreaking work on the presynaptic dopamine system in affective psychoses. Dr. Jauhar’s exceptional achievements were further highlighted by the Senior Clinical Award from the British Association for Psychopharmacology in 2019, and in 2022, he was honored with the esteemed Rafaelson Young Investigator Award from the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
